Tapping For Fears Raised By "Swine" Flu Pandemic

Hi everyone,

"Pandemic" - incident to a whole people, epidemic over a wide area.

"Epidemic" - affecting a community at a certain time: prevalent. - a disease that attacks a great number in one place, at one time, and itself travels from place to place: a widespread outbreak. (Chambers English Dictionary definition). At no point is it ever the case that "pandemic" = death, although of course pandemics may result in many deaths.

The headline news these last few days has been all about the swine flu. I'm pleased to note that although the tabloids enjoy their usual scare-mongering, on the whole the news reporting is not getting too hyped up about it,

I've heard one expert suggesting that the virus may be attenuating as it spreads, weakening in its effects. Today two virologists on the lunchtime news stated that the genetics of this H1N1 type do not seem to indicate, at this time at least, that it is likely to be a deadlier version than existing types of flu.
(Professor Wendy Barclay, chair in influenza virology at Imperial College London says initial indications suggest there is nothing about the genetic make-up of the new virus which is a cause for particular concern.), although I appreciate that could always change. It also appears that the Mexican Health Minister has reported a fall in the number of hospital admissions, which is good news.

One of the things to note is that the unfortunate fatalities appear to be confined to Mexico at the moment (even the US death was that of a Mexican child). Other cases so far reported in various parts of the world seem to have had quite mild symptoms and have responded or are responding well to treatment. It seems to be no worse than any other kind of flu you might get (which itself can be responsible for between 250,000 and 500,000 deaths worldwide each year)

This might suggest that there are possibilities of other additional infective factors at play to complicate the situation. On a forum I visit, there was a suggestion that Mexico suffers from worse air pollution than in other parts, which would certainly impact on respiratory function and health. Others have commented that nutritional and economic status
, or lack thereof, may also play a role.

Yes, it is obviously something that needs to be watched; it doesn't do to be too complacent, but at the same time, we've been here before in recent years with SARS and bird flu, both of which were, allegedly, going to wipe out vast numbers of mankind.

Rightly or wrongly, as the years go by I find that I have become rather cynical about these kinds of things. The media ramp things up, and many people become extremely fearful. Those who benefit most are, of course the pharmaceutical companies, poised with their anti-viral drugs. Could it indeed be a good way to clear old stocks of Tamiflu? You might also like to read Dr Mercola's "The Swine Flu Pandemic - Fact or Fiction" article.

Fear is a bad thing. It sets off stress reactions in the body, flooding it with stress hormones such as cortisol, often known as the fight/flight hormone. Short bursts of small increases of circulating cortisol can be helpful to the body in a stress response, but prolonged and excessive exposure can lead to a lowering of the body's immune response.

In this day and age, many people are chronically stressed and fearful, for all sorts of reasons and especially in current times, with the economic situation as it is. Cortisol levels remain chronically high, and if some viral problem comes along, it's likely that you are going to be far more susceptible to it.

If you do find that you are worried about the possibilities of becoming infected, it might be a good idea to take simple steps to address that fear or worry to help your own body's immune response. You may notice that Dr Mercola advocates the use of EFT for stress relief, as well as offering other resources to boost the ability of your immune system.

Obviously, because it works for me, my approach also utilises the EFT tapping process to knock out the worry and prevent an excess of stress hormones circulating. If you don't know how to use EFT see below for manual details or have a look at my self help page and follow through with the Setup and Reminder Phrases that follow.

First rate yourself from 0 -10 about how strongly you feel about this issue (SUDS: 0 = not bothered, 10 = very bothered). Start tapping on the Karate Chop Point and say something like (you can use your own words if you prefer):

Even though I am worried about this swine flu situation, I deeply and completely love and accept myself anyway.

Even though I feel fearful that I, or those I love, may contract this disease, I deeply and completely love and accept myself anyway.

Even though just the thought of swine flu and what it might do makes me stressed and worried, I deeply and completely love and accept myself anyway.

Now you tap on the individual acupoints and say your reminder phrase at each one.

EB. Worried about swine flu
SE. Fearful I might get this swine flu
UE. What if I get this horrible disease?
UN. What if my family gets it?
CH. Stressing about the swine flu
CB. People have died of it!
UA. What if we get it?
TH. Worried about the swine flu.

Take a nice deep breath and reassess your SUDS rating. If it's down - great. Continue doing rounds, until you get to zero, or feel more comfortable, changing your wording to something like as you tap your Karate Chop point:

Even though I still have some worry about swine flu, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

Even though I still feel fearful that I, or those I love, may contract this disease, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

Even though just the thought of swine flu and what it might do still makes me feel stressed and worried, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

EB. Remaining worry about swine flu
SE. Remaining fear I might get this swine flu
UE. Still might get this horrible disease!
UN. Still fearful that my family may get it.
CH. Still stressing about the swine flu
CB. Still worried that people have died of it, and I might to
UA. Still worried that we might get it.
TH. Remaining worry about swine flu.

When you get to zero, or are happy with a 1 or 2/10 you can stop, and re-do if the worry re-emerges at a later date.

You might want to consider how your worry feels to you. Where is it? Use this as a basis to work on.

Eg.
Even though I feel the worry as a tightness in my stomach, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

Your reminder phrase might be: This worry in my stomach...

If you carry out EFT on any kind of worry or fear you are likely to be pleasantly surprised at how effective it is at neutralising the issue. By knocking out the stress factor, you normalise the hormonal output and help keep your immune system strong and well.

If you need any help you can always contact me.

You might also like to read Gary Craig's recent blog entry on using EFT on symptoms of flu.

Something else that I have found very useful over the winter-time is a tapping protocol for colds and flu by Gene Monterastelli, which you can find here. I've been using this and found it very helpful. Is it just purely mind over matter? Who can really tell. I know that I feel energised and refreshed when I do this, although the version I use is an amended one that I tap along to with my husband. You can find this version on my EFT and Reiki Forum.

So don't let fear or worry get in the way of your health. Take some pro-active action and boost yourself with a dose of EFT Tapping. It takes just a few minutes and can work really well. What have you got to lose?

(Please be aware of the disclaimer at the foot of this page. If you have any serious health issues do take care of and responsibility for yourself. You may wish to consult your doctor before using EFT.)

Controversy about the Tapping Summit

Hi everyone,

Been keeping up with the Tapping World Summit and found most of the presentations to date of much interest. Just over half way through and I've been disappointed by only one so far.

It appears that there has been some controversy about the whole thing. You can read about this on Gary Craig's blog here and here.

I would like to think that it was indeed more of a "mistake of enthusiasm", as Gary put it, on Nick Ortner's part. He does come over as a genuine supporter of the power of EFT - but perhaps a tad gung-ho in his approach, youth's impetuous enthusiasm just not thinking things through fully?

Looking at the responses on Gary's blog, it seems that many people dislike the way it was marketed, as much as anything. Yet, hopefully it has helped to introduce many more people to the simple yet elegant tapping techniques of EFT and they will go on to introduce yet more people.

I found the contribution of Gary Williams, editor of the EFT World Magazine, to be most interesting and thought-provoking. You can find a copy of it here, although I think you would need to sign up to read it on Gary's (Williams) blog, Or you can scroll down the many comments on Gary Craig's first blog posting until you find it.

Personally speaking, I have to say that I have been able to listen in anytime between 11am and 11pm our time here in Britain, thus taking advantage of the 24 hour period the 2 presentations are available. I have taken copious notes and so far do not feel that I need to go for any of the paid upgrades. So in that respect it certainly is free. There are many sites I have been to where it is quite commonplace to listen in for nothing on a teleseminar or webinar and then have to pay for a recorded copy, should you wish to do so. No-one forces you to do so. I just tend to ignore all that and focus on what I can get for just listening in.

It has been good to have the opportunity to hear Carol Look and Dr Patricia Carrington talk.

Although I do not have weight problems I found the info in that presentation quite useful as I know many people who do, or rather perhaps have more of an issue with food choices rather than weight per se. The pain one by Gwen Bonnell was also very interesting, especially as I have a family member who suffers with fibromyalgia. It's given me a few new ideas how to approach the situation. Gwen runs a Yahoo group that you can sign up to via her website. There is a lot of good advice and experience shared there.

And Margaret Lynch's talk on debt must prove extremely useful for many people as we work our way through the current economic situation. I'm the first to admit that abundance is an issue for me - although I do acknowledge that I have an abundance of many good things that are NOT financial - and that they do so much to make life joyful, so there is some truth in the old adage that money isn't everything. But it is nice to think that now and then you can treat yourself and others without having to think about the cost. :-D

All I have to do once the event is over is to go back to the notes and hope that I can figure out what the spider scrawl says and type it out in clear for future reference.

One thing this has done, is make me consider making time to review the EFT DVDs. I treated myself to the entire set back in 2007 and have still only managed to get less than half way through. There is so much in them! Sometime soon I'm intending to go for the EFT Foundational Level certification, which is based on information found in the first set of DVDs. The biggest challenge is finding 100 people to practice on - so if you want to be a case study...?

Bright Blessings,

Close Encounters of a Field Mouse Kind

Hi everbody,

Today is the first sunny day with a less chilly breeze that I had the opportunity to go and sit outside in the garden to absorb a bit of sunshine and top up the vitamin D levels.

I'd got home from work to be greeted by the Littl'un, also known as Hecate, the youngest of our three cats, with a mouse in her mouth. She'd brought it in and secreted herself under the dining table and it took a little bit of persuading to get her to remove her prey/snack into the utility downstairs loo, where she proceeded to eat it.

I'm not exactly happy when she or her Mama bring in, mostly, mice (although Selene did bring home a dead mole once!) but it is a cat's natural behaviour, and thankfully they usually eat their prey, so it's not just been played with and discarded, so it doesn't seem quite so bad. We have a large field across the lane at the back of our garden and both are rather too good at hunting. Selene has a great strategy; she frequently ambushes Hecate and mugs her of her prey. One of her nicknames is 'Mouse-Selene', although I don't think she speaks Italian :-) .

Hex had wandered off again by the time I went out into the garden. It wasn't quite warm enough for me to sit and do my reiki self-healing and Hatsurei ho meditations, which I love to do in the garden, with the background sounds of the birds and the bees. Instead I read through some magazines and just felt happy at being out in the fresh air, and not actually working in the garden.

Hecate returned with yet another mouse in her mouth! Sighing, I watched her bring it on to the lawn and drop it in the grass. Then muttered an exclamation as the poor little thing sat up "Oh goodness, it's not dead!"

Hurriedly pulling my suntop's straps up, I was able to pounce on Hex and grab her by the scruff of her neck before she knew I was coming up behind her. Carrying her back into the house to lock her in, I was subjected to such a hissing and spitting, and a "how COULD you!" look, which was really quite funny.

The wee mouse was still sitting there when I came back out and didn't move away as I hunkered down beside it. It was only about 2" long, with great black beady eyes. I wasn't sure if it's back leg was OK and gently put out a finger to stroke it's back. It sat up, looked at me, and began washing it's face with it's front paws! It was delightful. I cupped my hand a few inches away from it and let a little Reiki flow to help offset the shock of being picked up by the cat.

Then it was a case of considering how to pick it up without hurting it, or it hurting me. It quite happily let me stroke it again a few times and it was only as I brought my hands forward to attempt to scoop it up (tricky being in the slightly long grass) that it loped off a little way. I got up to follow it and to encourage it into the border where there is plenty of cover.

My only worry then was that Selene would come by and find it but she came down the garden a little later, obviously unaware, and was soon locked in the house with the others.

It really was a wonderful few minutes - that little field mouse looked up at me, and even though I must have seemed ginormous, let me stroke its little back. Even now, typing this, there is a big smile of joy on my face, and I am so pleased that for once, I was able to save a little creature's life, as the cats are usually too fast to let me get them.

Two Choices

Hi everyone,

My sister forwarded this in my email to me today. I carry out Aromatherapy work with people with learning disabilities so it was of particular interest. See what you think.

Two Choices

What would you do?....you make the choice. Don't look for a punch line, there isn't one. Read it anyway. My question is: Would you have made the same choice?

At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves children with learning disabilities, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question:

'When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does, is done with perfection.

Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do. Where is the natural order of things in my son?'

The audience was stilled by the query.

The father continued. 'I believe that when a child like Shay, who was mentally and physically disabled comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child.'

Then he told the following story:

Shay and I had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, 'Do you think they'll let me play?' I knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but as a father I also understood that if my son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.

I approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, 'We're losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning.'

Shay struggled over to the team's bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt. I watched with a small tear in my eye and warmth in my heart. The boys saw my joy at my son being accepted.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three. In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as I waved to him from the stands.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again.

Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.

At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game?

Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.

However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay's life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact.

The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed.

The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay.

As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher.
The game would now be over.

The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman. Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game.

Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman's head, out of reach of all team mates. Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, 'Shay, run to first! Run to first!'

Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base. He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled.

Everyone yelled, 'Run to second, run to second!'

Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base.

B y the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball . the smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team.

He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher's intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman's head.

Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home.

All were screaming, 'Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay' .

Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, 'Run to third! Shay, run to third!'

As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, 'Shay, run home! Run home!'

Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team.

'That day', said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, 'the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world'.

Shay didn't make it to another summer. He died that winter, having never forgotten being the hero and making me so happy, and coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day!

AND NOW A LITTLE FOOT NOTE TO THIS STORY:

We all send thousands of jokes through the e-mail without a second thought, but when it comes to sending messages about life choices, people hesitate.

The crude, vulgar, and often obscene pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion about decency is too often suppressed in our schools and workplaces.

If you're thinking about forwarding this message, chances are that you're probably sorting out the people in your address book who aren't the 'appropriate' ones to receive this type of message Well, the person who sent you this believes that we all can make a difference.

We all have thousands of opportunities every single day to help realize the 'natural order of things.' So many seemingly trivial interactions between two people present us with a choice:

Do we pass along a little spark of love and humanity or do we pass up those opportunities and leave the world a little bit colder in the process?

A wise man once said every society is judged by how it treats it's least fortunate amongst them.

You now have two choices:

1. Delete

2. Forward

May your day, be a Shay Day.

This story certainly touched me. Everyone on this planet is a unique spark of the Divine Light. And in times when so often the youth of today are considered in a negative light, this just goes to show how wonderful and compassionate they can be, all unprompted, direct from the heart.

Bright Blessings,

Karen

Tapping World Summit Commences and What Is this EFT?

Hi again,

Have you registered with the Tapping World Summit yet. It started yesterday, and apparently over 40,000 people tried to access the site all at the same time, causing a minor blip as the servers went into meltdown. Our friends at 'Try It On Everything' swung into action to get it sorted (I'll bet there was lots of tapping going on!) and I listened in to Carol Look's presentation on EFT Basics earlier today. Very interesting and even though I've been using EFT for a couple of years now I still picked up a few new pointers. Now I just need to make time to listen to Nick Ortner's "Exploring the Paradigms of EFT".

It occurred to me that not everybody who reads this may know what EFT, or Emotional Freedom Techniques, is.

As a very quick and simple explanation, EFT is a modern energy meridian therapy based on the principles of ancient Chinese acupuncture. The big advantage is that no needles are involved. It can be likened to a form of psychological acupuncture without the needles as instead, we use our fingertips to tap the meridian end-points on the face, upper body and head to stimulate the acupressure points. This is why it is often known as the "Tapping Technique".

Gary Craig, the founder of EFT, is a retired Stanford University engineering graduate, who trained with Dr. Callahan who used Thought Field Therapy (TFT). Gary simplified the process and came up with the essence behind EFT, the DISCOVERY STATEMENT.

The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system .

A distressing memory can cause a disruption in the body's energy system. This, in turn, leads to physical changes such as nausea or anxiety. These feelings become attached to the memory of that experience and have an effect on the way we see the world, often from a state of negative emotion. When we come across similar situations this triggers a kind of conditioned response, often without us even being aware of it. A further consideration is that " unresolved negative emotions are major contributors to most physical pains and diseases ."

This ties in with the emerging mind/body approach to medicine. By tapping on the acupoints, the body's energy system is gently realigned, brought back into balance, disconnecting the physical discomfort we associate with certain memories, and quite often removing the resulting symptoms.

As EFT incorporates this emotional element to the healing process, it addresses the unresolved emotional issues which are the likely cause of physical disease, psychological dysfunction, and personal performance limits.

EFT appears to have very few negative effects, yet this deceptively simple but elegant process appears to be helpful in many different applications, including personal performance issues, e.g. weight loss, business and career goals; emotional challenges such as relationship issues, stress, anger management, insomnia, addictions and cravings, phobias; physical issues such as pain management, allergies, female hormonal problems, diabetes control, etc.

Many benefits are documented on Gary Craig's emofree site. These include
  • An increased state of relaxation
  • A brighter, more joyful outlook on life generally
  • Improvements in the areas of physical and emotional health
  • Improvements in energy levels and focus
  • An increase in regards to self-esteem

It often helps when nothing else works.

As Gary's website states:

Based on impressive new discoveries regarding the body's subtle energies, EFT has been proven successful in thousands of clinical cases. It applies to just about every problem you can name and it often works where nothing else will.

For further information on the background of EFT you can go to my EFT Home Page.

It is important to note that you should always exercise common sense in the application of EFT and not use it in situations where you would be in over your head. As EFT has only been used in its current form since the early 90s, and thus may be considered still in the experimental stage, all users of EFT, both practitioners and laymen, must take complete and personal responsibility for their use of it.

Well, better go off now and have a listen in to Nick.

Bright Blessings,

Karen

Are My Eyes Trying to Tell Me Something?

Hi there,

After spending a few hours yesterday evening getting the blog finally up and running, along with other PC work, it appears to have left me with a bit of eyestrain today.

I have very short sight in my right eye - can only see about 7 inches (about 18cm) in focus without the spectacles, and apparently astigmatic (irregular shape) as well. The other eyes is a little better, but without the specs I'm a bit like a mole.

Experimenting with contact lenses a few years ago was a dismal failure. The left eye was great; didn't know when the contact lense was in. Unfortunately the right eye is so awkward that the lense just could not fit right and it was extremely uncomfortable, with constant tearing and blurriness. So obviously a no-go.

Have to admit, putting them in did make me feel queasy every time, and getting them out was not always easy and straight forward either, so perhaps it is just as well that it didn't work for me.

Having been a follower of natural and holistic therapies since the 1990s, it is interesting that physical problems may be looked at from a totally different perspective. One of my favourite authors is Deb Shapiro, and a particular well-read book of hers is "Your Body Speaks Your Mind". Chapter 17 - Getting Focused and Tuning In - covers the eyes and the ears. She comments that it is very easy for the sensory impressions to be affected by trauma, especially in childhood, leading to a distortion of the capacity to see (or hear) clearly.

It is particularly interesting when she states that children may "withdraw their senses, and instead create a private fantasy world inside. Difficulties to do with sight... often linked to repressed emotion, fear, or a rejection of the outside world for a preference for a private inner world."

I am sure many could also agree with the fact that spectacles provide a place to hide behind. Do you use your specs as a barrier?

I'd strongly recommend reading this book. It is extremely interesting and in some cases, thought-provoking. The section on nearsightedness, or myopia, is amazingly accurate in my situation.

Although I think my childhood was quite happy, eyesight problems did crop up fairly early on. Even more interesting about what Deb says is the preference for a private inner world. That certainly fits the bill. Being a bookworm for as long as I can remember, at the age of 10 I was allowed (with parental consent) in the adult section of the local library. My reading preferences have always been historical, fact or fiction, and fantasy, and as for living in a private fantasy world.... Card-crafting is a hobby of mine, and that also leads one into an inner world.

More recently, once becoming involved in the world of EFT, I have come across Carol Look's work on the use of EFT to improve the eyesight. She carried out an experiment over 8 weeks and the results are published on Gary Craig's emofree site.

I've actually had Carol's eBook "Improve Your Eyesight With EFT" for some time now. In the Foreword, Dr Patricia Carrington, clinical psychologist and researcher, talks about the how the emotions can impact upon the eye and "that in fact our perceptions and our emotions are intrinsically linked."

I have read through it a couple of times but now finally think it is about time to give it a try for myself. We know the premise that EFT works upon our emotions by eliminating the disruption in the energy systems so it could be interesting to see (:-D) what comes up for me. It's just a case of whether to get stuck straight in or to wait until the EFT World Summit has finished and then get started. Either way, it might make for some interesting postings.

Bright Blessings,

Karen

Tapping World Summit - Starts Monday 20th April

Hello everybody,

By now, you may have heard about the huge, exciting free extravaganza coming soon all about EFT, or emotional freedom techniques. Our friends at 'Try It On Everything' have created a very exciting event believed to be the first of it's kind - the Tapping World Summit.

And here's the REALLY great news: You can gain access to this event, for F.R.E.E. thanks in part to the support of Dr. Joseph Mercola and his team at Mercola.com, the most visited alternative health web site on the Internet.

Over 22,000 people worldwide have so far registered to take part in this event. Are you one of them, and like me, looking forward to this 9 days of EFT expert knowledge dissemination? Or have you yet to take the plunge?

To start learning about EFT you can download my "Balance Your Life With EFT" free manual, and I would also strongly recommend you get Gary Craig's here. You can obtain Gary's comprehensive training DVD sets here.

Please Note: Anything on the EFT side of this blog is provided as a public courtesy to help expand the use of EFT in the world. While Gary Craig and EFT encourage such efforts, they cannot evaluate or endorse the multitudes of them that exist. From quill pen and parchment paper further into the realms of IT.

Hello everybody,

Welcome to the EFT, Reiki and All Kinds of Everything blog! Why such a title? Well, as a practitioner of EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and Reiki, of which I am also a Reiki Master/Teacher, the first part is pretty self-evident as a choice.

However, being the possessor of a butterfly mind, it's more than likely that I'll want to touch on all sorts of other topics as well, so it seemed a good idea to have some sort of "heads-up" to let readers know that they may be taken anywhere! My husband is used to conversations that go off at all sorts of tangents, and then suddenly return to the topic in question. But then, of course, he's had 21 years of practice ;-D.

If you are interested in getting some more background about who I am and where I am coming from you might like to take a look at the "About Me" page on my home website www.EFT-Reiki.com

I've been involved with Reiki since 1998, and teaching it since 2001. I retook my Reiki Masters in the Japanese tradition in 2006 and that is what I teach now. For me, it is as much a way of life and the daily self-healing meditations are very peaceful and relaxing. For those who are interested, I send out distant Reiju empowerments every Friday for my students and anyone else who wishes to tune in. Should you choose to do so, it would be interesting to get your feedback. Just sit quietly and when you feel ready say to yourself that you are ready to receive Karen's Reiju empowerment now, and be receptive to whatever happens.

EFT came along a little later in 2006, is a wonderful complement to Reiki and has also become a daily asset. It has been VERY useful for dealing with the occasional little reminders that the menopausal process is under way (and found it so effective that I've written an eBook "Menopause - Hormonal Balance With EFT"). I shall endeavour to share some of those benefits as time goes by.

At the weekend I'm off on an EFT Mentoring Day with my trainer and fellow Reiki Master, Martine Moorby, which I am really looking forward to (well, apart from having to get up at some unearthly hour in the morning for a two and a half hour drive to Harrogate - those who know me well also know that I am a night owl and thus a late riser!). Later in June I shall be taking the next step in my EFT training, up to AAMET Level 3. There is always something more to learn.

Starting this blog has been yet another step on my journey from quill pen and parchment paper into the realms of IT. Personally setting up two websites proved interesting (not to say frustrating, at times) challenges and there was a fair bit of EFT tapping going on at times when it seemed that everything was going around in circles. Fortunately my husband is a computer engineer and computers are also his hobby. There are still times when neither of us are quite sure about what we are doing, but at least he knows more about the general workings of computers.

Although still very much a novice, it has been a very interesting experience and taught me a lot. At least this seems a lot easier than trying to understand SEO (!) or getting autoresponders to do what we want :-). It has been quite enjoyable, even encouraging, getting this blog page the way I wanted to, without too much challenge. Now all that remains to be done is to fill it with some hopefully interesting and useful content for you, the reader.

It is my suspicion that it may take a little while to get the hang of this blogging thing, but practice, as they say, makes perfect. In the meantime, why not take a look at some of the links... bookmark the site... and check back regularly for ongoing updates.

Just to finish this first posting on a quirky note, there was an item in the news yesterday Scots "bucking funeral pop trend" (I found a similar item from 2006, Dead Popular). A teletext page was asking what people's choices would be. I know the song that will be played at my funeral, hopefully still a few decades away - Annie Lennox singing "Into the West" from the soundtrack to "Return of the King" from the Lord of the Rings films. It ties in lovely with my personal belief system. Does anyone out there have their own choices of what they would like, or perhaps definitely wouldn't want? Please leave comments; I would love to know.

And if anyone has any particular thing they would like me to discuss, please get in touch. It is all grist to the mill.

Bright Blessings,

Karen
