Hi Everyone,
Well here we are, three days into a new year. Today, here in the UK Midlands, we actually have blue skies after the very dreary start to 2011. It is surprising the difference it makes.
Are you into making new year's resolutions? I must admit that I don't tend to go down that route, but prefer to set myself some objectives to strive for during the coming weeks and months. Sometimes I succeed in what I want to do; other times things change and I realize that the original goal is no longer applicable.
Although I am still going to be doing that this year, I am also going to try something a little different after reading about it on one of the craft blogs I like to follow (Artful Blogging from Glenda Waterworth).
In her posting, Glenda writes of being a big fan of Christine Kane and links to one of Christine's previous blog posts - Resolution Revolution: A Better Way to Start Your Year. Instead of making resolutions, the idea is that you pick a word that you can use as a focus and a guide for the year to come. The post lists possible choices of words you can consider.
At first I considered "expansion" as my word. It would be nice for my business, and thus my income, to expand throughout 2011; it would be great for my creativity to expand as I'd like to diversify in that respect.
Or perhaps "growth"; ditto the above, but including personal and spiritual growth.
But in the end I have decided to plump for "Joy". If you find joy in your daily life and activities, and can try to give joy to others, the chances are that other aspects of your life will also become more joyful, and fulfilling. From a Law of Attraction point of view, that can only bring in more wonderful things into your life for you to enjoy. Well, that's my theory, anyway. So all I have to do is put it to the test. :-)
One of the first things this year to bring me joy is to have a set of shelves built by my husband in my computer room. For ages I have sat surrounded by clutter and been unable to find or file paperwork away. It has been very frustrating as I like things to be tidy around me as I work, whether it is for "work" work, or for crafting pleasure.
But now the shelves are in situ and I am taking great pleasure and joy in going through the piles of papers and files, finding them a home. It is going to be a great joy indeed when in future I can put my hand straight on to something when I need it, instead of having to move piles and watch avalanches of papers.
And just in case I have doubts or find it difficult to follow through at times, then I can always resort to EFT Tapping to help me through. Perhaps something like this?
Tapping 3 times at the Karate Chop Point:
Even though it may not always be easy for me to feel joy in my life, I deeply and completely love and accept myself anyway.
Even though there may be times when I doubt I can keep a joyful approach, I deeply and completely accept myself and my negative feelings.
Even though I might feel at times that it's just not possible to stay joyful all year, I choose to allow myself to always seek and find the silver lining in any cloud that might come up.
EB: It's not easy to always feel joy
SE: I doubt I can always be joyful
UE: Can't possibly find joy every day
UN: Things happen that are far from joyful
CH: I'm expecting too much of myself
CB: Can't find joy every single day, can I?
UA: What about when bad things happen?
TH: How can you feel joy then?
EB: I can always allow myself to feel joy
SE: I can always allow myself to feel joy
UE: I can always allow myself to feel joy
UN: I can choose to feel joy, no matter what
CH: I can choose to be more able than I think I can be
CB: There is always a gleam of joyful light in every single day
UA: I can always choose to see the silver lining
TH: I can always choose joy over anything else
The choice of words and phrases is always dependent upon the circumstances at a given time, but it works well when you feel down or frustrated, or any other negative feeling(s), to just spend a few minutes tapping them away to replace with something more positive and JOYFUL.
So why not give it a try yourself? See what comes up. And perhaps leave a comment with your own choice of word for 2011?
